Combined waterproofing for the next generation
- We are a pioneer with 25 years’ experience of developing combined waterproofing. We are thus excellently placed to make proposals for new styles of waterproofing.
The concept behind Dyflex's combined waterproofing
The ideas behind combined waterproofing are to elicit as much effectiveness from exposed waterproofing methods as possible, while taking into account future means of reinforcement and repair of the waterproofing layers.
| Easy maintenance |
| Without a thick protective layer such as a concrete layer, damaged areas
are easily identifiable during the building maintenance period, guaranteeing
safety for years. Damaged areas can be more accurately located if the material
is seamless. |
Lightweight
| Since there is no need for a protective layer, no extra weight is loaded on the building. The total cost of steel frame buildings is effectively reduced. Combined waterproofing methods are also useful for renovating existing buildings. |
| ¦Protective layer rupture, accompanied by cracks in the base |
| Even if the protective layer is elastic, the effects of zero span tension and cyclic fatigue may cause rupture of the layer. |
| ¦Waterproof layer blisters due to moisture in the base |
| As the temperature rises, moisture in the base concrete turns into water vapor that expands, pushing up the waterproofing layer and causing blisters. Blisters may form during repairs using surface-asphalt waterproofing methods or when the base concrete is cast onto the deck plate. |
| ¦Limited use after construction |
| Walking, etc., may damage the waterproofing layer, especially if it is exposed sand asphalt or sheet. |

The concepts behind Dyflex's combined waterproofing
| Our "combined waterproofing" overcomes the problems with exposed waterproofing by adopting a multilayer waterproofing structure. On the basis of the concepts below, Dyflex selects and combines materials suitable for their intended use after construction. Using these various options, Dyflex works on the creation of new "surfaces and space." |
Reliability and safety have been improved by use of waterproofing materials
in both layers. The upper layer is made of seamless materials which can
be repainted on the existing layer. This results in a simplified procedure
for any future waterproofing repairs and thus a reduced life cycle cost,
not to mention easy maintenance. |
